Allera to complete Osteoarthritis clinical study enrollment

Tampa, FL (August 2008) – Allera Health Products will complete enrollment of its first clinical study or Proligna® pinecone extract for osteoarthritis by October 2008, and have final data by early 2009.
The clinical study, being performed at three medical centers in the United States, aims to determine whether Proligna pinecone extract provides an enhanced quality of life for patients suffering from mild to moderate disease.

“People have been using pinecone extract in the United States for over 20 years for a variety of conditions, and many people with osteoarthritis reported to us that they benefited from its use”, says Dr. Joanna Peterkin, Clinical Director of Allera. “To test this, we designed and conducted a double-blind, placebo controlled study to determine whether we could see a benefit under the controlled conditions of the clinic. We are pleased that this study is nearing completion. We have also shown convincingly that daily use of pinecone extract capsules (Immunextra®) is safe and well tolerated.
